What is the symbol on Ciel's eye and Sebastian's hand from Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji)? I know what it looks like, but I'm asking if the symbol means anything.

it only serves as the sign of their contract. the symbol is a pentacle (star within a circle). there are different kinds of pentacle but i think this one is what they call the "seal of solomon."

why i think so?

wiki: The Seal of Solomon was a magical signet ring said to have been possessed by King Solomon, which variously gave him the power to command demons.

It is supposed to symbolize a Faust contract between Ceil and Sebastian. Faust contracts have to do with the devil in Christian religion (I'm pretty sure..>_> *is lame and uneducated about these things*)

I know they talk a whole bunch about Ciel's contract shape's meaning and how the star is pointing up in this thread: http://forums.blackbutler.net/showthread.php?683-Contract-Symbols&s=a93cdaa9753fe08297d386829b0dd36e hopefully that helps

The symbol just symbolizes the contract between him and Sebastian. The symbol on Sebastian's hand has the same effect.

The symbol I called a tetragramaton, it is a symbol from the lesser key of Solomon. It means the four letter name of god and is used in medieval times to summon and bind demons to the summoners will.

I'm pretty sure that it doesn't have any meaning (I think that's something that would have been stated by the writer if it did and it hasn't as far as I know) but it is their contract
