The only cartoon that sounds familar to that would be G GUNDAM, an anime where there was a guy called Domon Kashu who would go inside the gundam and had this black stuff stick to him and whenever he moved or did something the gundam would do the same, and yeah they were huge and they did fight in stadiums and it was like a sport too, different countries had there own gundam and fighters, haha thats the best I say that sound familiar to what your talking about haha

Wow! I am looking for the same thing too!!!

Can anyone please tell us what anime is this ?

I remember watching it when I was a kid and it was dubbed in Cantonese..

Notes:

- If I remember correctly the robot is white and have some yellow on it.

- There is a girl that falls and sits on his face and he keeps remembering her panties after that. (something like that)

- And yes, he controls the robot by stuffing his hands into some black ball thingy inside the robot's cockpit.

- If I'm not wrong the robots have slightly longer legs from the overall proportion.

- There is an enemy which doesn't have legs, purple floating robot?

*I am trying to remember every single detail after watching this way back when I was a kid, so if there is any mistakes please correct me. Thanks! =)

One more detail. The boy use to call that robot with a magic knife. Robots would be able to merge and make huge animal robots. There was an army of red robots which were villans. They all use to travel in space on their space ship
