Can someone recommend any good anime/manga?

I love anime and manga with all my heart, I just have a problem getting into some of them. I used to be obsessed with it when I was in the 7th grade, but I have since stopped reading it. The only anime I have watched (or manga that I have read) is Ouran High School Host Club...so the question that goes with this is: does anyone have any recommendations for things I should watch and/or read. (I don't like yaoi, just so you know, so none of that.) I will read literally anything, though, be it shounen, shoujo...and any genre, as long as it's good. And I don't really care if it's widely known or not...but it has to be translated into English, at least. By the way, when I say I haven't read/watched anything lately, that includes the obvious stuff like Bleach, FMA, Black Butler, so you can suggest those too.

PS. I prefer dubs to subs for anime. As for manga, scanlations and the like are fine for me.

My favorite is Boys Over Flowers which is about a poor girl going to school with rich kids and she gets picked on by a group called F4, the leader of the F4 falls in love with her but she has a thing for his best friend. Really funny and a lot of drama.



Love Com is a manga about a girl and boy. The girl is taller than the boy and she ends up falling in love with him while trying to help each other find a girlfriend/boyfriend. EXTREMELY FUNNY.



The Sand Chronicles is a manga about a girl whose mother commits suicide. She ends up dating and breaking up with a boy she really likes...more of a serious manga. I like the art.



Kodocha is an anime about a tween movie actress. It's a hyper-romantic-comedy. Though not all the episodes is dubbed in english so i had to read the manga to find out the rest of the story of Kodocha



Absolute boyfriend is a short manga series about a girl who ends up buying a robot boyfriend. I enjoyed it. Almost cried at the end. Almost.



Monster is an anime series. A long anime series. More of a psychological anime. I liked it.



Black Butler is good. It took me a few episodes to get into it. Worth watching.



Other favorites of mine are Fruits Basket, Death Note, Bleach, Nana, Chrono Crusade.

My favorite anime is Blood Plus and Ghost Hunt. There are some great anime movies out there like Kikis Delivery Service, Whisper of the Heart, Spirited Away, and The Cat Returns. Hope you find something you really like..

i don't really watch anime much but the only one i have watched is Skip Beat, its really good you can watch & read Skip Beat. i would suggest that u do both since only one season of its anime has come out but the manga is still on going.

Below are some really good ongoing manga.



Then there is Faster than A kiss;which is basically about a girl who lost her parents in an accident leaving her and her 4 yr old brother in care of their relatives, but they run away from their relatives and she ends up marrying her English teacher. its about how she tries to get close to him, because even though they're married they still haven't even kissed yet.

Also there is Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu:this manga is about a girl who is really old fashioned and hasn't had her first kiss yet and on her first day in high school she cuts the hair of the guy who got in with perfect score 'cause he was annoying her in class, so in return the guy takes her first kiss and swears to take all her"firsts" but they both end up falling in love with each other.

There's also The One;its about a girl trying to become a model because her parents were both models and because she admires the right now top model Angus Langson.

And my top favourite Love So Life; its bout 2 very cute baby twins, their guardian, and their Babysitter. its really cutee.^ ^

DBZ MUGEN Edition 2 is an action-packed fighting game. For those people who were born on the 80?s and early 90?s like me, I am sure this game reminds you of the classic games like Street Fighter and Double Dragon especially the graphics are almost identical. In this game, it has twenty-seven different DBZ characters that you can choose and use them in the game like Goku Normal, Goku SSJ2, Son Gohan, Mystic Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta and many others.

Personal favorites:



-Air Gear [Sports, Drama, Echii]; It's difficult to do the story justice by describing it, but basically it's about these motorized skates called Air Trek, and the people who use them. The anime is decent, but I highly recommend you go with the manga. The author does porn on the side though, so there's definitely a lot of suggestiveness.



-Detective Conan [Mystery]; It's known as "Case Closed" here in the states. Both the anime and manga are one of the longest in existence, and they're still going, so there's no reason to try and finish them. But it's a really great thing to read on the side. It's basically a series of mystery stories, so if you like detective novels, you'll love this series.



-Bleach [Action, Adventure, Drama, Supernatural]; This show is good, I would even venture to say better than Naruto in many ways, but you shouldn't focus on it. I watched it up to the Bount Arc (around episode 110, i think?), then dropped it, so I could watch other stuff and expand my horizons.



-Toradora [Comedy, Romance, Drama]; This is an interesting show because it's different from your typical comedy romance. It feels more intelligently done. And you'll come away from it feeling pretty good.



-Eyeshield 21 [Sports, Comedy, Adventure]; A manga about American Football. It's actually really hilarious. I didn't know a thing about football going into it, but I still enjoy it, and I'm actually learning a thing or two. There's an anime too, but I haven't seen it.



-IGPX [Sports, Action, Mecha]; This is one of my favorite anime series. It's a fast-paced show about a futuristic sport where two teams of three race down tracks as long as 60 miles at speeds upwards of 300 mph, while duking it out hand to hand in giant mechs. It's a coming-of-age story, and a show about the awesomeness of teamwork.



-Gurren Lagann [Mecha, Epic, Action]; This is one of those shows that you just have to have under your belt. Regardless of what other people say about it, you just have to see it for yourself. It is, in one word, epic.



-Code Geass [Mecha, Drama]; A mecha series about a genius who finds himself bestowed with the ability to make anyone do what he commands by looking them in the eye. He decides to use this power to basically take over the world. The show chronicles his rise to power.



-Spice and Wolf [Drama, Slice of Life, Romance]; A refreshing series that is very down to earth. A traveling merchant finds Horo the Wise, a long forgotton deity who's taken on human form, stowed away in his cart. She decides to travel with him, and the show is basically about the places they go to, and the interactions between the two of them. Another of my favorite shows.



-Mobile Suit Gundam 00 [Action, Philosophy, Mecha, Science Fiction]; In the year 2307, countries fight using bipedal mechs known as mobile suits. A new paramilitary organization arises, calling itself Celestial Being. This organization pledges to end all war on the planet by sending Gundams, super powerful mobile suits that are surmised to be at least a decade ahead in technology, to conduct armed interventions in every conflict, basically defeating each side so they can't fight. Gundam 00 is about Celestial Being, the Gundams' origin, the people who pilot Gundams, and everyone affected by Celestial Being's actions.



-Fairy Tail [Comedy, Action, Adventure]; This is actually a pretty typical manga as far as shounen adventure stories go, but that doesn't stop it being good, and hilarious. There's a wide cast of characters (actually so many that you may have trouble keeping up with them at times), all unique, from Grey who can't seem to keep his clothes on, the Elfman who's obsessed with being manly, to Mist Gun, who nobody knows about because he casts a powerful sleeping spell on everybody in the vicinity before he makes an appearance. I haven't seen the anime, but it's supposedly pretty good too.



-Amagami SS [Romance, Drama]; This show is one of my favorites, because it's so well-executed. The art style is refreshingly down to earth (no technicolor hair styles) and modest, without being boring. The series is unique because it adapts the visual novel style by splitting its 26 episodes up into a bunch of four episode arcs, each representing a "route" for each girl. After the protagonist gets into a romance with the girl, the story starts again from a different angle. I haven't seen another series that does this.



-School Days [Romance, Drama, Psychological]; School Days isn't actually a particularly great show in terms of raw quality, but I still recommend you watch it because it's such a nice twist on the typical harem format. I won't spoil too much, but you should give it a shot.
