What is your favorite Anime? Here's my list, I am curious if there are others with similar tastes.?

I thought I would ask the question I have seen answered 1000 different ways. I have seen my fair share, but I am yet to find a list that fits my tastes. I have watched many Anime on recommendation, and some of the top series just do not catch my interest at all. Here's my list. I think you can get a feel for my tastes, I am hopeful that this can help someone else in their search, but I was curious if anybody elses favorite is something that I haven't seen.

Anime (series and movies all inclusive)

1. One Piece
2. Naruto (I also include “Shippuden “ as they both are halves of the same story)
3. Ninja Scroll (movie, series was ok)
4. Akira
5. Ghost in the Shell
6. Vampire Hunter D
7. Full Metal Alchemist
8. Cowboy Bebop (if you like the tv series Firefly, well, this blows it away)
9. Dragonball (also Dragonball Z since different parts of same story, excludes GT)
10. Fairy Tail
11. Yu Yu Hakusho
12. Spirited Away
13. Castle in the Sky
14. Princess Mononoke
15. Steamboy
16. 3X3 Eyes
17. Fist of the North Star
18. Ranma ½
19. Highschool of the Dead
20. Bleach (only if you skip filler which is 46% of the show as of 08/2011)
21. Samurai 7
22. Jin-Roh (slow, more on the serious side, but excellent movie)
23. Claymore
24. Rurouni Kenshin
25. Heroic Age (Saw recently and held my interest)

Notice I don't have a lot of mech anime listed. It seems that there are more Mech anime made than stars in the sky. I have seen several, but none stood out when I sat down to make this list. I'm interested to see if I get any responses, or get turned on to something new by asking this question.

Most importantly, I hope this question/list might help some poor schmuck out there just like myself who's looking for more to watch in the Anime universe. Good hunting!

Admittedly, this list might be a bit different if you asked me this question again a few days from now. It tends to change depending on my mood. Even as I type this, there's at least a dozen titles floating around in my head that I'm thinking should be on this list. It's just so hard to narrow down a firm top-10-15-20-whatever. Even if I could make up my mind, it would still change all the time as I saw new anime.



I hope you don't mind if I do movies in a separate list. They're just in a whole different world from TV series, imo. I just can't compare them.

I'll be watching Colorful and Sword of the Stranger tomorrow. I've heard great things about each of them, so one or both of those could be knocking something off this list by tomorrow night.



So...either we just haven't seen a lot of the same stuff, or our tastes are COMPLETELY different! I think the only overlapping title we have is Spirited Away. You do have FMA, but is that the 03/04 series, or Brotherhood? I enjoyed the first series, but liked Brotherhood more. There are a few titles on your list I really enjoyed, but most of them either didn't leave a strong impression on me, or I just haven't seen them. One thing we do seem to have in common is difficulty getting into mecha anime. I have seen maybe 2-3 mecha series that I really enjoyed, but everything else just left me cold.

One Piece, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Yu Yu Hakusho, Pokemon, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Spirited Away(watched it as a kid on toonami) same goes for castle in the sky, Ao No Exorcist, K-ON, Fairy Tail, Lucky Star, High School of the Dead I watch it for the PlOT lol.. Death Note, Rave Master, Chobits, Naruto( I actually should start watching it more) and more.. Just all I can think of at the time.

If you haven't found a good mech anime yet, have you checked out Bokurano or Neon Genesis Evangelion? They're kind of deconstructions of the genre, taking it in a different direction.

naruto- Me and my best friends life story is a killer. So awesome. Yu Yu hakusho and bleach are amazing too
