dragon anime thats not dragon ball z, long and very good?

I'd like to know if there is such that heavily focuses on dragons, main characters being half-dragon or dragons, the birth of dragons etc! NOT DRAGONBALL Z.

Fairy tail :D it doesn't HEAVILY follow dragons but the main character uses dragon-slayer magic and was brought up by dragons... he breathes fire.. uses fire based attacks... its probs the next best thing. and he's on a quest to find his dad (bring the dragon that brought him up) because the all of the dragons in the land have mysteriously disappeared

Dragonball Z doesn't really have much to do with a dragon but lots to do with being awesome(and dragged out).
