If you had telekinesis could you make yourself fly?

Today at work, I got in a debate with my superiors. I said if I could have any super power I would want telekinesis because I could move things with my mind and fly, but they said I wouldn't be able to make myself fly because in Star Wars Yoda couldn't make himself fly and he's effin Yoda. To which I replied that I could use an object to propel myself through space (which may not be flying but is what I am after) however Jean Grey has telekinesis and she can fly. Either way Yoda uses the force which is a completely different thing all together so what Yoda can or can not do has no reflection on my telekinetic abilities.

How To Fly Using Telekinesis

Jean Grey doesn't fly, she levitates.

And I could not make myself fly in any way, because telekinesis

is not an ability to fly.

If telekinesis works it would rely on some kind of energy that You transmit. To make yourself fly you had to direct it inwards and I don't see how that would be possible

You're right about that. With telekinesis, that is if it's strong enough, you can do whatever the hey you want. Blow things up, break things apart, keep things from moving, even make yourself fly. At least this is what I think. I mean, telekinesis is one awesome power if not the best, and you can do whatever the heck you want with it if you're strong enough.

Yes

I think you could make yourself fly with telekenisis, however, I don't think you could do it for very long. It would be very difficult to maintain your entire body weight in the air, and then to move it through the air at any decent speed as well as navigate through any objects that may be in your way. I think you might get a short distance and find that you have worn yourself out. Maybe even collapse from exhaustion.

Your references to Phoenix and Yoda are both valid, but remember that those characters are very very well trained at what they do. Yoda is a few hundred years old...how long has he been training for? Phoenix is possesed with an evil spirit of emense power. As Jean Grey alone she is not very powerful. It is the phoenix spirit that gives her the incredible abilties that she has. So neither of them would tire from flying, but an untrained mind would collapse very quickly.

your friends are all silly. of course you can fly. you cannot lift yourself up directly of course (that never happens)

you lift up yourself by riding on the object you lift up, cool huh?

for example your standing on a skateboard, then, you levitate the skateboard. in x-men 2 you can see the good example of this theory. when magneto is going out of plastic jail, he's standing on a metalic thing that he's moving. in x-men 3, magneto also makes a bunch of people fly, by simply lifting up the golden gate. but of course, magneto can naturally fly because he has the talent. jean grey is a different case. she also has the talent to fly (that's the other thing from her telekinetic power)

Yoda couldnt fly? that's because he never tried to use my technique.

you're right. telekinetic is probably the best superpower ever. why?

1. you be offensive (throwing people, making yourself untouchable, throwing something at people like sword or somethin)

2. you can be defensive (making telekinetic shield like what jean grey did in x-men 2 when water strikes, building telekinetic shield from bulets coming through you (and deflect them onto you enemies) like in x-men 3 when she is about to be shot by stupid and idiot soldiers in the last scene.

3.you can be a lazy bum (making things come to you instead of the other way around)

4.you can fly (using my cool technique)

5.you can become invinsible (combining all techniques of telekinesis)

In my oppinion, trying to fly with telekinesis would be like trying to pick yourself up. No matter how strong I am, I can never pick myself up off the ground.

Telepathy is a difficult spiritual power to master my young pupil

strong you may think Telepathy is a mind trick if you know what i mean.

I am a Telepathy master i know when to use it i can use it to hear voices of spirits, and human thoughts but sometimes brings misfortune, if you seen people called Witches, Wickens, Mind readers, starwars, are the same thing.

Telepathy is Telekinesis

Mastering flying takes most important spiritual means your chi or ki if you may call it.

But in the world Telepathy is a strong suit for who dares to use it for destruction or darkness its your call my spiritual is strong and easy to hear my sisters thoughts are she believes shes brittany spears ha ha ha! not funny ha ha ha!

I would personally have to agree with you. In the Champions game, flight and TK were separate powers. In Traveller, someone with a high enough level of TK could fly. So it depenes on the game system you're using. Nobody really has TK, so we don't know if there is action or reaction to it. Like, if there was a hero flying by, could youlatch on to him with TK and get a lift.

The pk ability to lift oneself is known as levitation, not telekinesis. Telekiesis is the ability to move objects with the mind.

Yes, I think you could. It would only make since. I mean, it wouldn t work the same way of having the ability of flight, but you would at least be able to lift yourself up if your mind within my understanding.

I would think that one could achieve flight if their telekinetic ablity were strong enough, it would be a simple matter of focusing the ability on ones self instead of other objects, so put on your spandex slap on your cape and fly away my psychic friend .

In Pokemon Mewtwo uses the attack "psychic" (which is practically telekenesis) to allow him to fly. So does mew in the first pokemon movie. This is reinstated in the genesect movie where mega Mewtwo y (know for amazing psychic powers) uses it to allow himself to fly faster

Actually, if you were using telekenisis you wouldn't be flying, you'd be floating with inertia. You need wings to fly.
