i want to catalog and make a list of my comic book collection and am wondering if there is a free computer program that can constantly update itself (with new issues that is released) and also has cover pictures that i can make a list of what i have including the current (also updated) value of each comic, or must i create one from scratch.
Thanks in advance

There's a couple of comic book catalog softwares out there (Comic Collector Live, Collectorz, ComicBase, Comic Book Collector), but my fave has been comicbookdb.com. It's an online service, but it's so easy to use, easy to add new issues, and works on a wiki based system so that if you add a new issue and don't/can't fill in all the info, others can and complete it for you.

Tim Sale uses ComicbookDB to list his work on his own website.

If you want to be involved in the image-making there are other options – comic books don't have to be drawings (or at least your own drawings) if you take out-of-copyright drawings or ones from stockart books like Dover Press's offerings you can create surreal work, you can use photography, photocopying or collage to make images (you will need to investigate copyright here, especially before you defame any products).

Many people use spreadsheet to do this kind of task. Of course, you can use some database program to handle the data. Spreadsheet are more transferable in case you need to share the data with someone else.

If you have Microsoft Office, you can use its Excel package.

If not, you can download Open Office for free at www.openoffice.org

hum I don't know if there is a specific program for this. I did a similar thing by using hyperpublish (http://www.hyperpublish.com) but's not the purpose that brought me to buy it (even if you can use it for this, like me :) )
