Guest Stars that Nearly Appeared

These are guest stars that agreed to appear on The Simpsons, but for various reasons could not. This does not include celebrities who simply turned down an offer.

Catherine O'Hara agreed to do the voice of the waitress in Flaming Moe's and she actually went into the studio and recorded her part for the character. However, the producers felt that her voice did not fit the role and instead had one of the regular voice actors do the part. (Mentioned in DVD Commentary for Flaming Moe's)

Anthony Perkins agreed to voice Dr. Wolfe in Last Exit to Springfield but unfortunately fell ill and could not record the part. (Mentioned in DVD Commentary for Last Exit to Springfield)

According to some sources, Christopher Walken originally agreed appear as himself in the episode Insane Clown Poppy but decided to demand a lot more money than the producers were willing to pay. Instead, Jay Mohr did the voice of Walken and in the end credits was actually listed "Jay Mohr as Christopher Walken", the first time that a guest voice had ever been listed with the voice they did.

Zappa wasn't on it. He should have been, though. The simpsons.com site has a section with all of the guests.
