juggernaut in X-men the last stand?

In X-Men: The Last Stand, when Magneto told Juggernaut to go kill the mutant albino looking kid, and Juggernaut charged toward him, why did his powers fail? I thought Juggernaut got his powers from a gem, and that he wasn't born a mutant.

he still has mutant powers. the albino kid has the power to take the mutant genes away as long as their close enoungh
