Thursday is opening day so there may be someone their the first night, but it's not a guarantee, so I would have no real worries

Yes, last year I was surprised at how much was shown at the panels. Even outside of the Twilight madness, there was a lot. Alice in Wonderland had a panel with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. James Cameron was showing clips of Avatar along with the cast. All that was shown while I waited outside while Twilighters hogged the line in the morning and the hall throughout the afternoon. I was able to see Terry Gilliam, Mini-me, and some other actors for "Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus", Matthew Vaughn, McLovin', Nicholas Cage and comic artist/co-creator John Romita Jr. for "Kick-***", and Korean director Park Chan-Wook for Thirst.
It seems more and more of Hollywood is spilling into Comic Con each year, so there seems to be something/someone to see each day.

SDCC is the biggest and oldest of all of the Cons. all people attending needs a member identity to purchase tickets. Tickets are executed on a lottery gadget - they open online sales and you attempt to get into the queue. in case you get into the queue (its international...), then you definately can purchase 4 tickets, not greater. So, you may choose greater effective than one family contributors member on a working laptop or computing device, attempting to get tickets. No close by sales on tickets and no person is gonna provide you their fee ticket as they circulate away for the day. there will be a sale on lodge rooms in the previous the Con. some resorts have particular costs. while you're stable with trolleys and buses, you are able to stay farther away and are available in on a daily basis. don't get your lodge till you get tickets - the rooms are non-refundable. lines to get into the panels are VERY long - some people sleep in line for a pair of days. in case you get your tickets and are available to SD, the terrific element to do is purely savor and not set expectancies for entering into stuff - you do no longer decide to be disillusioned and, besides, most of the panel stuff shows up on YouTube besides.
