Why do shojo girls always eat so much sweets?

In so many shojo animes the girls eat so many candies and stuff but they never get fat, and I know i’m playing fiction and non-fiction here, but does anyone else find it alittle werid that they don’t? at all, I mean your’ll have teenaged girls that eat more then guys can and the guy in teh anime will look at there girl like O.O wow... while shes pigging out on food.
I just find it gross and kind of sad.
Anyways what do you guys think?

It's probably "cute" to really love candy or something. I think they try to depict the characters as being innocent and cute to appeal to viewers, especially male ones.



In Japanese culture, youth and women acting young and innocent is considered desirable by men.

Us 'cute/sweet' girls do get taken advantage of, cause we're sweet. It sucks! So usually when a good guy comes rolling around, we're stuck in something we don't want to be in, but are too 'sweet' to do something about it. You have to be able to approach a girl you find nice, if you don't do that, she will never know you're out there.
