I'm writing a fanfiction on...Yu-Gi-Oh... Yes, I know its really stupid, but I need ideas on how to start it. Its going to be YamiXOC. My main character, Leiko, is abused by her father who blames her for her mother's death. She runs into Yugi and the gang one day, and ever since then, they think something is wrong with her, the way she flinches from physical contact, the way she acts, how a gentle touch hurts her badly, all that. Leiko also possess a Millennium item, which she keeps secret, but not knowing much about it. After she becomes friends with the gang, Yugi asks about her, why she acts like that, and if someone's hurting her. Leiko keeps saying no, but when Yami (Leiko is closest friends with Yami) takes control, she has no choice but to reveal her dark secret (about the abuse, not the Millennium item). She also tells him about the Millennium item later.

Yeah, lame summary, but how should I start it off?

I don't need you to write it for me, I just need some IDEAS.

My advice to you is this: NEVER write fan-fiction.

Here's a better idea: get into the anime industry so that, at one point, you'll be writing for a show like this. I would suggest that you look on YouTube for videos on getting into the television and/or film industry (specifically on how to sell your story and how to start and pitch a tv show) because once you're in either one, it's much easier to do anime. I mean, you can imagine that it would be a breeze for Steven Spielberg to make an anime film or tv show.

Now here's where I'm going to be somewhat contradictory. If you want to start writing for a tv show (regardless if it's anime or not), you have to write a spec script for the show you want to write for (this gets your foot in the door). The reason I say that it's somewhat contradictory is because it sounds like writing fan fiction. But here's how they're not the same: (1), spec scripts look like professional scripts and (2), spec scripts are potential gigs.

I'm not saying that you have to make your own anime show or film, but if you're great at writing stories and if you educate yourself on what good scripts and bad scripts look like, then you could possibly write the next Avatar or even write for people like Steven Spielberg or Hayao Miyazaki.

Long story short, if you're good at something you should never do it for free.

Also, let your idea be different. Let it express you.

I'd start with a short on her background history. Say, describe the scene if its in a house or room, then tell what's happening. Start with an abuse scene so people can go on from there to understand her background.

Or, if your writing from a third person perspective you could make it more interesting for the reader and start off with her running into the gang first. That way the reader can learn about her along with the other characters as the story progresses, that way people will be more interested in reading just to see what's going on with her. After all, curiosity is what keeps the readers turning the page.
