My boyfriend & I are avid comic book collectors. Every Wednesday we buy anywhere from 5-50 comic books depending on what's being released that week. As of right now, between the two of us, we have about 2,000 comic books. I've been keeping an inventory list on Excel, which I separate by publishing company (DC, Marvel, Image, etc), then list the title of the comic and the issue numbers we have of that specific title. With this, I have to update it every time we purchase new comics and there is no way to specify if it was a variant that was purchased. I've seen software that exists for this sort of thing but they're mostly for Windows and I of course own a Mac. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas to make this more detailed and perhaps less time consuming? I appreciate your help. :)

You could try Comic Price Guide (http://www.comicspriceguide.com). They allow you to track your collection online. I haven't tried it so I'm not familar with what options or reports it provides. But it's free.

Somewhere, I read about a collection program for the Mac called "Delicious Library 2".

Once again, I can't vouch for it since I don't own it or a Mac.

I use Comic Base which is excellent. Unfortunately, you would need to install a virtual Windows emulator like VMware or Parallels, and now you are talking a lot of money.

It's surprising how little comic book software there is for the Mac.

My go-to for database projects is MS Access. There used to be a Mac dbase software called FileMaker Pro, but I don't know if that exists anymore. You might also try google docs; they have database software, but I haven't used it myself.
